Tree Pruning & Maintenance
Proper pruning is important for a tree's long-term health and to improve the natural beauty of the tree. It is also for safety such as wind risk reduction pruning and trimming back limbs over the house.
Preventative pruning is used to remove storm damaged or diseased branches which helps to combat heavy winds, stimulate new growth, and keep the tree free of weak branches that may come down during a storm.
Elevation pruning is used to remove low hanging limbs to clear walkways, streets, and structures. This also allows more sunlight to the lawn below.
When is the best time to trim?
In general, heavy pruning should be reserved for between late fall and early spring. Dormant pruning in late fall or winter is best as this helps with disease management. When done right, pruning sustains long-term health and robust growth.
